Stage parents are said to be some of the worst people to work with in the business. American Idol has told one such parents that enough is enough.
AI contestant David Archuleta's father, Jeff, has been officially banned from the show. According to TMZ, Jeff Archuleta has been a constant headache the entire production. He interferes with the producers, the band, vocal coachers, and other contestants. The straw that broke the camels back happened last week when the elder Archuleta wanted to change the lyrics in David's first song, Stand By Me. Jeff wanted to add a verse from Sean Kingston's song "Beautiful Girls." Although the producers sent him an email stating that the lyrics would not changed, David sang the version his father wanted him to sing during the live show. By changing the lyrics, it created a problems with the song's publisher, as well as cost AI a lot of money.
By this time, the producers of the show had enough. Jeff was told by AI lawyers that he was "banned from being in the rooms where David was learning or rehearsing his songs." Jeff will only be allowed to sit in the audience during the live show. This apparently satisfied the producers as well as the contestants, who were said to be fed up with Jeff, and didn't want to be around him.
