ury selection in the R. Kelly is not shaping up to be favorable towards him. Jurors are currently being selected in Kelly's child molestation case in Chicago.
The first day of jury selection has yielded the first three jurors, which include an African American wife of a Baptist preacher, a black man who identified himself as a Christian, and a white executive who said he thinks Kelly guilty. The white executive admitted that he thinks R. Kelly is guilty, but feels he could give him a fair trial....Say what??!!! The executive went on to say: "I have two little kids. Child pornography is about as low as it gets." Well, we agree with that statement, can he be a fair and impartial juror when he already thinks the defendant is guilty?? Kelly's lawyers responded by saying, "There's no one in this room who condones child pornography." Kelly nodded his head in agreement with the statement.
One potential juror was dismissed because prosecutors felt that she was "star-struck" and had given "inappropriate" answers. The woman, an African American postal worker said she thought Kelly was "a musical genius" and a "pied piper." When asked if she knows of anything negative about Kelly, she replied, "He and (rapper) Jay-Z don't get along." Needless to say she was not accepted by the prosecution. Jury selection is expected to take a week. There will be a total of 16 panelists chosen - 12 jurors and four alternates.
Kelly is charged with 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a 13 year old girl. He has pleaded not guilty.
